Conclusion

After doing extensive research on Sun Chemical and their MIS Systems, we have concluded that Sun Chemical has evolved into a productive and sustainable company over the last years which keeps them at the top spot in the industry. Being the world’s largest producer of printing inks and a leading provider of packaging, plastics, cosmetics and other industrial markets means Sun Chemical needs to constantly be on top of their inventory and product quality if they want to beat out their competitors and keep the threat of substitutions at a minimum. By implementing the SAP R3 Version 6 inventory software and the BMC-Control, which runs with the SAP R3, Sun Chemical is able to automatically check inventories, reorder points and create management reports. By utilizing this software, Sun Chemical was able to cut down on employees and costs, though, it still takes 2,700 employees to run the software. Sun Chemical focuses on industry-wide differentiation, in which they aim to produce a better product across the industry. The MIS systems keep inventory at low levels to keep costs low which is also a main competitive strategy that they have over other companies. With more emerging technological factors like iPads and Kindles, Sun Chemical may be worried that the ink industry is dying, although, they respond to that issue in ways that keep them stable in the market. Sun Chemical strives to create quality products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy and water use while keeping their carbon footprint at a minimum, making them an attractive and innovative supplier and producer.
